China has Strong day at Beijing World Para Athletics World Cup Meet

Jun Wang, new World Record holder

Two field world records have fallen at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Beijing on Saturday as Chinese athletes dominated in their home event.

Already the world record holder in the F35 women’s shot put, Jun Wang added the javelin world record with a throw of 28.44m. Jun Wang managed just one valid throw in the javelin but it was a phenomenal throw, breaking the world record that had stood since 2008, obliterating that record adding three meters.

There was also a men’s world record for China as Enlong Wei broke the men’s shot put F46 world record. That mark had stood since 2013 after Nikita Prokhorov set that mark in 2013, but currently cannot compete due to Russia’s suspension. Enlong Wei threw 15.80m to add 11cm on to the world record.

It was a dominant day for China in their home meet throughout the meet, with several more coming from the throwing events.

Guoshan Wu managed 42.91m in the discus F57 while in the F33/34 Tanzhang Wang managed 38.56, both winning gold. Liwan Yang won the women’s discus F33/34, finishing well in front of the field with 18.39m and the F55 was won by Feixia Dong with 22.61m.

Also in the field Pengkai Zhu won the men’s Javelin F11-13 throwing 53.85m while the women’s javelin F11 was a double for China. Huiming Zhong dominated the field throwing 25.13m, almost 10m clear of the field with Liangming Zhang finishing second.

China also did well in the field with several wins on track events in a strong meet for their athletes.

In the 200m T11 China managed a double as Guohua managed to edge Cuiqing Liu in a tight race, while the men’s version sure Dongdong Di win easily. In the 200m T38 Jianwen Hu managed the win but had to settle for second in the long jump as team mate Huanghao Zhong won that event, 20cm ahead.

There were three more wins in the 200m, with Xia Zhou winning the women’s T35/36, Hongzhuan Zhou won the T52/53 easily. Wenjun Liu won the T54 while Xiaoyan won the T37, to put her on top of the season rankings, while Yifei Yang won the men’s T35/36 and Wei Liu claimed the T13 race.
